Charlie Woodward-Fisher and Phil Harris take on the challenge of a lifetime as they row a
staggering 2,500 miles non-stop across the Atlantic to raise funds for Tommy's and the Royal
Marsden cancer hospital. They anticipate being at sea for 50 days and nights rowing 2 hours on
and 2 hours off and hope to raise £1 million for the charities! It will be a true test of both
physical and mental strength as they battle the high seas of this enormous ocean. Totally self
sufficient they will need to carry all their food and de-salination equipment for fresh water
on their 24' rowing boat to sustain them throughout the race. To make a donation and find out
more visit www.row4life.com.
The clothing and equipment will have to be made from scratch using the same techniques and materials that the makers used in the early 20th Century. The same animal skins and stitching will all be part of the equipment. The sledge although heavy will be created along the same lines as Scott's sledges. The techniques in manhauling the sledge will be exactly as the expedition in 1911. Everything even up to the navigation used by Scott will be used by us on the journey, we will make it as authentic as is humanly possible - hopefully avoiding the same final outcome!" Simon, Ed Farquar, James Daly and Roger Weatherby will be accompanied by Geoff Sommers OBE. They hope to raise £500,000 for Tommy's and £1 million in total for charity. Imagine standing at the edge of an open doorway in an aircraft flying at 10,000 feet - the noise of the
engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the outline of distant fields below. Now imagine leaning
forward out of that doorway and letting go - falling forward into the clouds, diving down through the air as
you start freefalling at over 120mph! Then imagine the peace and quiet as the canopy opens and you begin a
tranquil parachute descent from a mile up in the air. Imagine being able to do this for FREE whilst harnessed
to a professional freefall parachute instructor and at the same time being able to help Tommy's! S"top"
imagining, it's real and it's happening all the time and you can be part of it...
You'll need to raise a minimum of £375.00 which pays for the cost of your jump and means a donation of £140.00 to Tommy's, the baby charity. Sign up today! For an information pack call Diana on 020 7398 3431 or contact us.
