Armed with the results of Tommy’s Parent Friendly Awards, in association
with Huggies®, it is now possible for parents to lead a
stress free life at home, on the high street and abroad – even with
their kids in tow!
Britain’s most parent friendly organisations were revealed
on Wednesday, 26th March 2003 at Tommy’s prestigious awards ceremony,
hosted by Samantha Bond and Stephen Tomkinson. A team of celebrity guests,
including Tina Hobley, Katie Derham, Natasha Kaplinsky and Cold Feet’s
Jacey Salles, joined the hosts, at The Roof Gardens in Kensington, to
pay tribute to the award winners.
This year, the Parent Friendly Awards has helped to raise over £200,000
for Tommy’s vital research, including over £70,000 from the
sale of Hoobs pin badges at ASDA. Over half a million of you across the
UK voted in 23 categories including most parent friendly supermarket,
restaurant and airline.
While no company in the world can take away the temptation for children
to run riot at the supermarket or ride the suitcase carousel at the airport,
the awards illustrate that there are an increasing number of organisations
whose parent friendly initiatives alleviate some of the pressures parents
can encounter. Every parent will have battled with trying to get buggies
up stairs, between narrow aisles and into tiny bathrooms. Simply knowing
which companies cater for kids can give parents a head start.
Tommy’s launched the Parent Friendly Awards 11 years ago, to encourage
companies to provide a parent friendly service and help reduce the stress
levels of parents and parents to be. It has since rewarded over 150 companies
and vast improvements have been made for parents.
Huggies® has supported Tommy’s Parent Friendly Awards
for nine years. Beth Bennett, from Huggies, says: “Huggies celebrates
a positive approach to parenting and anything that makes everyday activities,
such as shopping, easier and more enjoyable for both parents and children
deserves Huggies support.”
